The Practice

Special Interests

We are an independent practice with special interest in Behavioural Optometry and learning difficulties, sports screening, evaluation and therapy, tinted lenses and overlays for the classroom, infant and child testing, work and stress related visual symptoms in adults. A large part of the practice time is devoted to Vision Therapy aimed at remediation of learning and general vision problems.

Families

Adult and Childrens Opticians was one of the first practices in the country designed with the needs of young children and parents in mind. We have a large playroom full of toys, videos, baby room and a particularly large selection of infant and children’s frames to fit all pockets. All our optometrists are very experienced in working with young children AND coping with the needs of children whilst testing accompanying adults. We aim to achieve a relaxing and stress free environment for all the family so that you and your children can enjoy regular eye care. Fitting and adjusting of glasses for young children is completely different from adults and between us we have over fifty years experience!

Young Adults

We also have a full contact lens fitting and aftercare service and carry a large selection of fashion and designer frames to suit all tastes. The bulk of our frame stock is aimed at the young (or young at heart). Our smaller frames are also particularly useful for adults with smaller than average heads.

Browsing for Frames

Take you time looking at frames. There is always someone to help if you want it, but if you would prefer to choose with a friend or by yourself, that’s fine too. We’ll be available to give advice on colour, style, fit and lens types that will best suit your prescription and lifestyle needs.

Welsh Eye Care Initiative

All our optometrists are accredited to carry out PEARS and WEHE examinations free under the Welsh Eye Care Initiative. We also undertake free Low Vision Assessments for adults and children with visual difficulties not corrected by means of surgery or glasses. Aids, such magnifying glasses, monocular and binocular telescopes, angle poise lamps and TV max glasses are loaned free, for as long as they are required.
